Move your body…
Moving our body is essential for overall well-being. Physical activity plays a significant role in maintaining our health, improving mood, and reducing stress. Simple movements, such as stretching, walking, or engaging in more vigorous exercise, can enhance circulation, strengthen muscles, and increase flexibility.
Incorporating movement into our daily routine doesn’t require a gym membership or a structured workout plan. Activities like gardening, dancing, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator can be beneficial. The key is to find forms of movement that you enjoy, making it easier to stay consistent.
It’s also important to listen to our bodies. Start with what feels comfortable and gradually increase intensity or duration. This approach not only minimizes the risk of injury but also fosters a positive relationship with physical activity.
Regardless of age or fitness level, making a habit of moving our bodies can lead to long-term health benefits, enhance cognitive function, and promote emotional resilience.
I think the biggest win in my fitness journey has been shifting my focus to the importance of my health. When we know better, we do better. Once I learned how to move my body, I realized how much better I felt. Even though I have a love for strength training and vigorous exercise, I also have a love and passion for yoga and simple stretching. Slowing down and connecting your mind and body. Paying attention to your breath and how it feels to move your body with an awareness of all the work it is doing for us.
I challenge you to make a plan for what kind of movement you can add each day….each week. Write it down, make a date with yourself. The reward is so great both physically and mentally!
