Red light therapy (RLT) uses low-level red light to help heal and reduce inflammation. It is gaining popularity in fields like skin care and physical therapy for benefits such as improving skin, healing wounds, and managing pain.
RLT works by boosting energy production in cells, which aids repair and regeneration. It can also improve blood flow and lower stress on cells, enhancing its healing effects.
In skin care, RLT treats acne, psoriasis, and aging signs by potentially increasing collagen production, which improves skin elasticity and texture. Some people are reporting fewer wrinkles and better skin after several sessions.
In physical therapy, RLT may help relieve pain and support recovery from injuries, often combined with other treatments like exercises.
While many experience positive results, research continues, and individual outcomes may vary. RLT is generally safe with few side effects, making it a good option for alternative therapies. I am using red light therapy as well as other modalities like physical therapy to treat a very painful torn rotator cuff, and although I cant tell for sure just yet, I am hopeful that putting the efforts into self care and treatment will have me feeling better in no time.
