Eating to meet our goals shouldn’t feel restrictive. We should never be looking at food as a reward or punishment, or as something we “earned” through activity. Looking at food as sustenance and a way to fuel our body helps us have a healthy mindset about the food choices we make and ultimately results in better choices and more educated and deliberate decisions when grocery shopping as well as at meal time. Nutrition and activity need to be aligned in order to make progress toward our goals, but it doesn’t have to be a challenge with the proper tools. Implementing a healthy, mindful approach to the nutrition portion of your training will ensure a sustainable lifestyle for years to come.
